Girl Boss Gatherings was born from a LinkedIn message between Nora and Lauryn in July 2024. Lauryn first met Nora while touring off-campus houses in Nora's neighborhood. Lauryn spent the summer thinking of how to launch a new community group at UNC Chapel Hill, one that wasn't tied to majors, identity groups, or had competitive membership applications. She envisioned a space where all girls could connect and thrive, no matter their background.

To bring this vision to life, Lauryn messaged Nora, who was actively sharing internship tips on LinkedIn from her summer at IBM. Nora immediately saw the potential and brought on her close friend Anaisa, a fellow Kenan-Flagler student, to round out the founding team. Together, they launched Girl Boss Gatherings to empower female college students through career events, social experiences, and networking opportunities. Throughout the 2024-2025 school year, the founding team hosted eight events, each fully sponsored by brands that aligned with their mission of inclusivity and accessibility. Their kickoff event, sponsored by Bumble, was held on Friday, September 27, at Tru in Chapel Hill. Over the first year, they brought together over 300 women, building a space celebrating ambition, connection, and collective growth. By partnering with brands to fund their events, they ensured everything was accessible and free for all attendees, amplifying their core belief: when girls gather, they grow.
Founder //
Lauryn founded Girl Boss Gatherings after noticing that many on-campus organizations were tied to academic departments, had competitive application processes, or included other barriers to entry. While these organizations had their place, she wanted to create a space where all girls felt welcome and could meet people they might not otherwise cross paths with. Lauryn has worked with various brand partners to ensure that events are free for attendees and accessible to everyone. Beyond Girl Boss Gatherings, Lauryn works as a contractor for brands like Bumble, Pentel, Maybelline, and Saint James, helping them connect with college audiences. She is also a lifelong Girl Scout and continues to give back to the organization by hosting tours around campus and serving as a young alum panelist for regional events.
